Living With Integrity: Coming Out, Being Out

Coming out, like life itself, is a journey rather than a destination.  There's always another step to take—whether you're coming out to new friends or colleagues, another family member, or just living openly, day to day, without worrying about "who might find out."

So, where are you on this road?  Are you taking those first tentative steps, or have you been coming out for years?

Wherever you are in the coming out process, the Living With Integrity class will help you take the next step.  This class provides support, insight, and the benefit of other's experience.

Living with Integrity begins with an examination of how loving same-sex relationships stand in light of the Bible.  We'll start with the most important question—What does God think? This will be a time when students can grow in understanding what the Bible says about homosexuality.

The remaining sessions deal with how we can tell our story to others, including family, friends, and co-workers. Each session will feature teachers who have unique knowledge or experience with their topics.  You'll get to hear the coming out stories of several different people, and learn from their mistakes and successes.  We'll conclude with how to communicate our faith to especially skeptical people from each of these groups.  Session topics are:

• Re-establishing Your Relationship with God
• Coming Out to Family and Friends
• Coming Out at Work
• Coming Out to Skeptics — How to Articulate Our Faith
• Surviving and Thriving in the Gay Culture

The class is coordinated by Steve Adams and Cindy Dollard.

This class is offered periodically -- we're currently experimenting with offering this class each calendar quarter.  Registration is required.  Enrollment forms are in the Sunday bulletin for a few weeks before the class begins.
