Small Groups at Jesus MCC
Our small groups offer opportunities for study, service, sport and social activities, and support.
Small group schedules are listed in the bulletin each week, and also on the calendar. Events that require registration are advertised in the bulletin with registration forms at least two weeks before the start date.

Welcome
- Newcomer's Welcome Reception
If you have begun attending Jesus MCC within the past six months or so, we cordially invite you to a Welcome Reception at the Church. The receptions usually take place on the last Wednesday of each month.
The reception is casual and features hors d'oeuvre and dessert. We'll get acquainted, provide an overview of the Church, and answer any questions you have. Please see the calendar for date and time of the next reception.
Oasis
- Oasis Groups
What is Oasis? Small groups that meet regularly for friendship, support, Bible study, and prayer. You can pick an Oasis Group that fits your schedule and interests. Get more info on this page.
Study
- SoulShift Classes
Are you at a point in your spiritual walk where you want to be challenged to go deeper? Are you ready to explore the demands of Christ without any sugar coating? That's the purpose of this training track. SoulShift begins with three foundational classes (Reflecting On My Spiritual Journey, 101: Building a Close Relationship with God, and 102: Thriving in Christian Community) and continues with multiple advanced topics. The classes are offered on a quarterly basis. Registration is required.

- Animal Ministry
First Saturday of each month The Animal Ministry is involved in local animal rescue and prevention
resources..
- Bookstore
Available in the Social Hall whenever the church is open, the Bookstore
carries a good selection of helpful books, with an emphasis on promoting wholeness, healing, and Christian growth. Several titles cover the Gay and
Christian questions, plus you'll find inspiring biographies, devotionals, Bibles, and a few surprises.
- Children's Church
Sundays during 9:30 am and 11:00 am Worship Our team of teachers presents God's Word to our children in a typical Sunday School setting. Besides teaching a prepared lesson, we take time to be a listening ear for them, sharing in their troubles and joys; and offering a Christian perspective to their search for answers. - Choir and Music Ministry
Wednesday evening rehearsals and Sundays during Worship This exciting ministry includes both choir members and special musicians
who offer their talents back to God. It is our primary mission to learn more about our individual blessings and to develop them in such a way that will inspire and strengthen the spiritual vision of others.
- Communion Team
Sundays during Worship This Team is responsible for serving communion to the congregation. The goal of the Team is to ensure that communion is a reverent, moving time of encouragement and exhortation.
- Groundskeepers
This group keeps our church grounds in good condition. Tasks include
mowing the grass and other seasonal yard work. There are two sub-teams: The Mowing Team, and the Gardening Team.
- Homeless Ministry
This team works directly with homeless people on the streets of Indianapolis,
offering clothing, food, toiletries, and encouragement. This team has a passion for letting the homeless know that they are worthy of God's love. They also volunteer two Saturdays a month at Horizon House, an Indianapolis
shelter.
- Hospitality
Sundays before and after Worship The Hospitality Team plans and coordinates our social time after worship.
They plan menus, purchase refreshments (out of funds provided by the Church), present the refreshments in an appealing manner, and clean up the kitchen and social hall afterwards.
- Justice Ministry
The Justice Ministry leads our congregation's efforts to advocate justice for
GLBT people, and others who are disadvantaged or oppressed. We work as part of the Interfaith Coalition on Nondiscrimination (ICON) to promote justice in large and small ways.
- Media Ministry Team
This team coordinates all of the audio and video elements of our Sunday worship services.
- Nursery
Sundays during worship services This group cares for the little ones (infants and toddlers) during the Sunday
worship service. Also see this page.
- Pastoral Care Team
The Pastoral Care Team provides spiritual support and nurture to the
congregation. They offer intercessory prayer and comfort one-on-one after worship services, and pray for all the requests submitted by the congregation.
They provide care to members and friends of our congregation in times of distress or illness.
- Temple Keepers
This group works to keep our Church building in good condition. Tasks
include cleaning and minor maintenance.
- Ushers and Greeters
Sundays before, during, and after Worship The Ushers and Greeters team welcomes people to our Church and helps the
service to proceed smoothly. Ushers show people to seats, distribute bulletins, collect the offering and assist with communion. Ushers are a visible and vital part of the church service.
- Word Alive! (Scripture Reading Team)
Sundays before and during Worship Scripture readers strive to breath life into the reading of the Word of God
during worship services.
Sports & Social
- Couples' Social Group
This group meets for a social event each month. Check the calendar for what's coming up.
- Singles Support and Social Group
This group provides social and support opportunities for single people. Join the Singles Yahoo! Group to stay in the loop.
- Women's Softball
Friday evenings During the summer months, our Church sponsors a women's softball team
that plays in a local league.
Support
- Living with Integrity: Coming Out, Being Out
Eight-week class, offered periodically as part of the SoulShift curriculum. Sharing wisdom and spiritual insights about the continuous process of coming
out. Beginning with an understanding of God's perspective on same-sex relationships, and empowering each student with the ability to confidently "come out" to anyone. Registration is required.
- LifeLine Support Group
Each Monday at 7:00 pm, registration required.
This group provides a confidential, safe, and supportive environment, with peer support and professional facilitation. It will be a safe place for folks to
work through and find help with life issues, such as relationships struggles, coming out, issues with work, and more. See this page for more information.
