Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth

Building BlocksThe Building Blocks are tools to help you invite the presence of Christ into your life. They’re flexible, so you can arrange the blocks in the way that works for you. This stack shows all of the blocks the Discipleship Program gives you to choose from. There are 462 possible combinations!

“?” is for You To Ponder. We call it The Mystery Block.
You may have unique ways of encountering Christ (not listed here) that you feel led to build into your regular personal experience of Christ. Go for it!

W is for Worship — Regular Sunday Worship Participation
Encountering Christ in sermon, prayer, song, and Holy Communion. Something special happens in worship!

T is for Tithing — Giving 10% of our income to God’s work on earth.
Tithing is just one of the tools you can use to develop intentional generosity in your life. Jesus was all about radical sharing. When we give to God and others, Jesus is right there beside us.

S is for Service — Using My Gifts on a Ministry Team
Encountering Christ through service. Jesus’ life was devoted to serving God and others. When we serve, Jesus is right there beside us.

O is for Oasis Group — Participation in a Spiritually-Focused Small-Group
Encountering Christ in our friends through Bible study, sharing, prayer, fun, and laughter. Jesus said, “Where two or three gather in my name, there I am in the midst of them.”

Q is for Quality Quiet Time — Regular Two-way Conversation with God
Encountering Christ in intentional, private one-on-one communication via Bible study, prayer, writing, singing, dancing/movement, art, meditation, recitation, memorization, or tongues. One option is our daily Be Still and Know… resource.

D is for Discipleship Decision
Do I wish to be a disciple of Jesus? Do I want to spend time with him so I can become like him? This is the foundation upon which everything else is built.

"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
