SUN Groups: for children of GLBT parents

Meet Erin Hamilton
Erin received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Law and Society from Purdue University. Upon graduation, she worked in the Mental
Health sector, working with children, adolescents and adults. She received her Masters of Social Work from Indiana University, Indianapolis, where she focused her studies on relationships
and families.
Erin is the Director of Student Services at a local community college, where she works closely with students to help them make positive choices and better their quality of
life. She has a private practice on the west side of Indianapolis where she works primarily with the GLBT population, as well as kids of GLBT parents.

We're excited to announce this new resource for GLBT parents and their kids!
The SUN Groups are co-ed groups for children of GLBT parents and their allies. Groups are an effective, enriching experience for children to help them
develop improved social skills and team building skills, increase their self-esteem, and learn healthy coping skills and healthy ways to express feelings.
SUN groups are tailored to provide a warm, supportive, positive environment for children of LGBT parents. Research indicates that networking and
building friendships among children of LGBT parents and allies increases self-esteem and positive coping skills. The SUN Group not only allows the
children to build bonds with other kids their age, but will also empower them.
The Groups will be led by licensed therapist Erin Hamilton.
SUN groups are divided by age group, and each group meets once a month, on Mondays from 5:45 to 6:45 pm.
- On the first Monday of each month, ages 5-8 will meet.
- On the second Monday of each month, ages 9-15 will meet.
Groups will be limited to 10 children. The cost is $10 per session, with discounts for folks with more than one child. Scholarships are available.
