Broken. . .

Have you ever had that feeling — like something in life is just not working right, but you don’t what to change or how to change?

In this sermon, three Biblical characters will travel through time to tell us how they found wholeness. Perhaps their path will illuminate ours.

Today’s scripture: Philippians 3:4-14

Too Busy To Think

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Life moves at a frighteningly fast pace — overflowing with demands and distractions. Without even realizing it, we can easily become externally driven people, living unfocused, reactive lives.

What would happen if you suddenly put your foot down and took charge in 2010? What would that look like? What would you have to change?

Today’s scripture: 1 Kings 19:1-16

The Good Life

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

For several weeks we’ve been looking at Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth.

So far we’ve looked at Worship, Connection, Quiet Time, Service, and Generosity – powerful blocks we can use to build our souls.

This sermon looks at the last two — “?” and “D” — and puts all the pieces together into a coherent plan.

Imitation of Christ

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

This sermon continues our series on Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth.

So far we’ve looked at Worship, Connection, and Quiet Time — three powerful blocks we can use to build our souls.

But these are all “inflow.” What’s the point of making my soul more fit, if I’m not using that growth for some good?

This week, we look at the S and G blocks — Service and Generosity – and at the example of Jesus, who modeled these traits in extraordinary ways for us.

Watch or listen as we consider ways to “practice the presence of Christ.”

The Wild Stampede

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

This sermon continues our series on Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth.

So far we’ve looked at Worship and Connection – two powerful components we can use to build our souls.

This week we’ll examine quiet time — another tool that can help us invite the presence of Christ into our life. We all know how frantic and hectic life can be. Couldn’t we all use more of Jesus’ peace and presence?

Out of Hiding

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

This sermon continues our series on Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth with “C” for Connection.

Last week we looked at Worship. A powerful worship service can be a wonderful way to enter into the presence of God. But sometimes, it’s just not enough.

Have you ever felt isolated at church, like you’re on the fringes and just can’t figure out how to break in? There’s a New Testament word that describes what we need — koinonia. This sermon explores what it is and how to find it.

Fit For Life

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Bit by bit, piece by piece, block by block, each day we are building our lives. So how’s your construction going?

The Bible teaches that life flows from the inside out. Happiness, contentment, peace, joy — they all flow from within. None of us can live well unless we are taking good care of our souls. Are you?

This sermon begins a new series focused on Soul Care. We’ll explore a variety of spiritual practices which are basic “building blocks” for constructing a strong soul.
