A Tear in the Cosmic Tapestry

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

What if each of us could enforce our will on earth in Bruce Almighty fashion? Our world would quickly descend into chaos.

So what then should we pray for? When the chips are down and we’re really being squeezed, what should we ask?

In this sermon we learn from Jesus’ example in his moment of greatest stress.

Today’s scripture: Matthew 26:36-47

The Rest of the Story

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

“Jesus died, was buried, and rose again.”

We know the “death” part of the story well. And we know the “rose again” part of the story. But few Christians know the “buried” part well.

The New Testament teaches that, after his death and before his resurrection, Jesus descended into Hell. In this Easter Sunday sermon, we explore the significance of that part of the passion story and, from it, draw two powerful practical conclusions.
