Take My World Apart

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Last September we celebrated our first-ever World Missions Day and the tradition continued this Sunday!

Our two special guests, Emily Young and Sarah Durnbaugh, shared their experiences working with New Community Project (NCP) in the Sudan. The mission of NCP is to provide experiences that change us, resources that challenge us, and a community that gives us hope.

Prosperity’s Challenge

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Most of us aren’t accustomed to thinking of prosperity as a challenge. We tend to think of poverty as the challenge — and of prosperity as something that can solve those challenges.

Jesus didn’t see it that way. So what are we missing? This sermon examines one of prosperity’s greatest potential pitfalls — so we are better prepared to manage prosperity in our own lives.

If Only I Could Win the Lottery!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

We begin a new series with this sermon: Mastering Our Money.

Uh-oh. Preacher’s gonna beg for my money — time to tune out.

That’s not the point of this series, at all. We begin this week with two concepts presented in scripture:

  • the righteous will prosper.
  • blessed are the poor.

How can both be true? What is God up to in presenting two truths that are in such apparent conflict?

This will be a fascinating, challenging, practical series that invites us to consider all aspects of our relationship with money — how we earn it, invest it, save it, spend it, share it, and even how we feel about it.

New Beginnings

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

This sermon concludes the series on names of God. This week, it’s more of a description than a proper name: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”

What can it mean to us to say that God is our beginning, and our end? Listen or watch as we discover insight about the power and presence of God. These names can be key to our understanding of life.
