Coming this fall — new staff intern!

In late August, Vivian Wyatt will begin a nine month internship here at Jesus MCC. Vivian is a seminary student at Earlham School of Religion in Richmond. She is one of a handful of Cooper Scholars, meaning she has been given a full merit scholarship by Earlham. She will be Jesus MCC’s first staff intern!
Vivian is completing a Master of Divinity degree, with an emphasis on Pastoral Care and Counseling. She hopes to serve as either a chaplain or pastor. Several years ago, when her mother became terminally ill, Vivian devoted full time to caring for her. It was during this time that Vivian felt called to caregiving ministry.
Raised a Baptist, Vivian’s spiritual journey has led her down several paths including belonging to charismatic, non-denominational churches. As she has continued her journey, she discovered that she was searching for a church that welcomes all people. She found the diversity and vision of Jesus MCC compelling. She is open to the possibility of being ordained within MCC.
Vivian is the mother of one grown child. Although her family resides along the east coast, she currently lives in Richmond with her two idiosyncratic cats, Lazarus and Esther.
We will be blessed by Vivian’s profound spiritual gifts. We are also excited that she will add diversity to our leadership both as an African American and as a straight woman. Vivian will help us live more fully into our vision of being a Church for all people.
During her internship, Vivian will participate in a full range of pastoral leadership experiences: pastoral care, teaching adults and children, and worship leadership. Over the summer, she will be able to worship with us occasionally. Beginning in September, you will see her almost every Sunday at worship and at many other events in the life of the Church. When you see her, be sure to extend a warm Jesus MCC welcome!
