Running on Empty Rev. Jeff Miner, September 25, 2005. We're continuing our sermon series of obscure
stories from the Old Testament. In this sermon, we learn about a woman in dire circumstances: her husband had died, leaving her with a mountain of unpaid bills, and creditors were threatening to sell her
children as slaves to pay the debt!
Know how that feels -- when there's an enormous gap between the demands of life and your own limited resources, and you are stretched to the breaking point?
If
that's how you feel, then this sermon is for you.
We'll ask this question: when demands outstrip resources, what do people of faith do? The widow's story can inspire and instruct us when we are "running on empty."

Timber! Rev. Jeff Miner, September 18, 2005. Ever feel like your life is falling apart -- like
you've been cut down and are toppeling over? Where is God in times like that? What does God let this happen to me?
This sermon examines the life of Nebuchadnezar, King of Babylon.
He went through a time of utter ruin, and his story provides us with keen insights on making sense out of catastrophe.

You Talkin' to Me? Rev. Jeff Miner, September 11, 2005. Have you ever wondered about those Old
Testament stories where God communicates directly with people? Sometimes, God's talking up a storm. Seems like every time you turn a page in the Bible, God has something to say to somebody. And I wonder....
"Hey, God, what about me? Talk to me." Nothing; silence.
The sermon addresses that. In the story of Samuel, we can learn how we can hear from God.

Instant God Rev. Tammy Mills, September 4, 2005.
We continue our series of obscure, but powerful, stories from the Old Testament.
This week we'll learn from Naaman, who got his knickers in a twist when God's prophet told him that his request would be
granted, but that it would take some work on his part, first.
How like us -- to want "instant God!" God gives us a journey that will grow our souls, but we want only to arrive at the
destination -- no tiresome journey, please.
How far would you go to get what you need the most?

We continue our examination of the life of King Solomon. See the August 21 sermon description.

Constant Craving Rev. Jeff Miner, August 21, 2005.
The world is filled with beauty and wonderful
things: food, drink, sex, TV, reading, money, work, computer games, medical drugs, shopping.
But any of those good things, if we're not careful, can run amok and leave us wanting more, more, more, but never feeling fulfilled -- just as happened to Solomon.
Did you know that King Solomon had 700
wives and 300 concubines?
Something was definitely out of balance there! This week, we'll consider some very practical ways to keep all of God's good gifts in perspective, so we have balance in life -- and not careen out of control like Solomon.

The Sound of Silence Rev. Jeff Miner, August 14, 2005. This sermon looks at King Saul, who was in a
really dark place in life. He was certain that God had forsaken him. When Saul needed to know what to do, God was silent.
Ever been there?
Have you called out to God, but only get back a deafening silence? Listen to learn from the (bad) example of King Saul.

The Bone Collector Rev. Tammy Mills, July 31, 2005. In this sermon, Pastor Tammy takes us on a tour
of the vision given to the prophet Ezekiel, in the valley of dry bones.
The people of Israel were at their lowest point, in exile, with no reason for hope. Their spirits are like the dry bones.
Ever been there? Ever been where things are so far gone that there's no reasonable way they can get better?
Listen to this sermon for a message that resonates -- with God, there is always reason for hope.

Mona Safley, an ordained minister who has worked for many years as a stockbroker and financial consultant. Listen for a message of spiritual principles for managing our money and finances.

Help Stop Loshon Hora! Rev. Jeff Miner, July 17, 2005.
Do you know what "loshon hora" is?
It's an ancient Hebrew concept that can influence everything around us. Rabbis have taught that "loshan hora" has a karma-like effect -- it can
impact you, the people you deal with, and all of those around.
Listen as we examine this ancient concept that's key to living well.

Trivial Pursuit Rev. Jeff Miner, July 10, 2005. Why am I here?
We go
through the routines -- day in, day out -- trying to keep up, trying to get by. Some days are good, some days are bad -- but do you feel like you never really see the "big picture"? How do I
connect the dots to make sense of my life?
This sermon takes a step back, to try to see our lives the way God does. Listen for a message of focus and encouragement.

Gladiators of Love Rev. Jeff Miner, July 3 2005. We have the best of intentions -- we truly want to
be good to our loved ones. But we often fall frustratingly short.
When spouse or kids or parents push our buttons, we come out fighting like a gladiator -- reacting with anger and resentment and harsh words. And we just don't know how to change.
This sermon shares some insights from scripture that can help change that dynamic for the better.
